Air-dried dog food is a type of pet food that undergoes a unique drying process to preserve its natural nutrients and flavors. Unlike traditional kibble, which is cooked at high temperatures, air-dried dog food is gently dried at low temperatures. This process removes moisture from the food while retaining its nutritional content, resulting in a lightweight, shelf-stable product that is easy to store and serve.
How is Air-Dried Dog Food Made?
The process of making our Elevate Pet Provisions air-dried dog food starts with high-quality ingredients such as grass-fed beef from small US ranches, as well as organic fruits and vegetables.
1. Grass-fed Beef and Organ Meat Preparation:
- Grass-fed beef and organ meat are processed and selected from small US ranches - primarily from Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah.
- The proteins are then combined and ground together to create our super protein mixture
2. Protein Extrusion and Drying:
- The combined beef and organ meat mixture is fed onto sheet trays before it is loaded into drying chambers at our USDA/FDA human-grade facility in Lincoln, Montana.
- The trays are loaded into the drying chamber, where the protein is dried at controlled temperatures and humidity levels.
3. Organic Vegetable and Fruit Preparation:
- Organic vegetables and fruits are carefully selected and cleaned.
- They are diced and portioned into appropriate sizes for drying in drying chambers at our USDA/FDA human-grade facility in Lincoln, Montana.
4. Combining Dried Protein and Produce:
- Once both the protein and produce are dried, they are combined in specific ratios to achieve the final product.
- The dried protein and produce mixture is thoroughly mixed and blended to ensure even distribution.
5. Final Product Packaging:
- The combined mixture is then packaged into our food grade pouches.
- The packaging is sealed to maintain freshness and prevent contamination.
Throughout the process, strict quality control measures are implemented to ensure the safety, quality, and nutritional value of the final product.

All of our produce is organically grown in the United States.
5. Palatability: We hope this doesn’t sound too cocky, but after feeding countless pets, we are still trying to find a dog (or cat) that doesn’t LOVE our food. Watching historically picky-eaters devour their bowl of Elevate food has been the greatest proof-of-concept we could ever receive.
